Who we are

The Fondation Laurent Hurtubise believes that playing one or more sports is a key element in enabling children living with a disability to value themselves, stand out and assert themselves.

Whether through donations to recognized organizations, payment of registration fees or participation in sports activities, purchase of equipment or providing transportation for young athletes with special needs, the Foundation does everything in its power to foster the esteem of disabled children.

And the goal!

The mission of the Fondation Laurent Hurtubise is to help give children aged 18 and under living with a physical or mental disability the chance to participate in sports and thus boost their self-esteem.

The Fondation Laurent Hurtubise aims not only to encourage the practice of sport, but also to provide advice to help children take advantage of their disability.

“By adopting a positive attitude from an early age, I was able to achieve professional success in my favourite sport, golf. My perseverance and resilience have enabled me to reach unsuspected heights. My difference has never been a hindrance. It has been a source of motivation. I want to continue to use my story to raise awareness of the infinite possibilities open to us, despite life’s difficulties. With a disability, we can realize our full potential and participate in great and beautiful things!”

A favorable handicap

Born with only one forearm, Laurent Hurtubise has never let his condition stand in the way of his ambitions. Despite his difference, the man has always played sport. At the age of 11, after a detour through baseball and field hockey, Laurent turned to golf and devoted himself entirely to it.

For nearly fifteen years, Laurent Hurtubise has been taking part in world tournaments pitting disabled golfers from North America and Europe against each other. He has also won several trophies, including the North American One Arm Golfer Association championship (2006) and the Fight Master Cup, his first world title.

By launching the Laurent Hurtubise Foundation, the athlete now wishes to offer young people living with a disability the opportunity to practice their favorite sport and to realize their potential through physical activity.
